Chiropractic Services
Introduction
Chiropractic is one of the largest primary-contact health care professions in Canada, and is an excellent resource for injury prevention, exercise injury rehabilitation and sports therapy. Due to its great success in the treatment of low back pain, neck pain and headaches, chiropractic is routinely prescribed by many doctors around the world for these and other conditions, including carpal tunnel syndrome, sprains and strains, myofascial pain syndrome, and iliotibial band syndrome. Sports injuries such as golfer’s elbow, tennis elbow, runner’s knee, swimmer’s shoulder, and shin splints can be treated using evidence-based chiropractic as part of a suite of holistic health care services, including laser, ultrasound, IFC or Interferential Current, registered massage therapy, ART or Active Release Techniques, and medical acupuncture. The chiropractors and other practitioners at RE:FORM Body Clinic offer these and other services to clients in Ottawa and Gatineau in our state-of-the-art clinic, right downtown in the Byward Market.

Treatment Plan, Information & Expectations:
What to expect from your first diagnostic and treatment session:
A chiropractor is a primary contact physician, so you can book an appointment without a referral. The doctor will schedule between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours to get your complete medical history and do a physical exam to pinpoint the cause of your problem. From there, the doctor will outline a treatment plan including treatment options, number of visits, and expected resolution of your case.
Treatment overview:
Treatments by the doctors are focused on improving your condition as soon as possible. Most office visits consist of some combination of muscle work (Active Release, Trigenics®, Graston®), spinal manipulation where indicated, and other treatment modalities (Interferential Current, Laser, Muscle Stim) as necessary.
Number of treatments:
Chiropractic treatment usually involves multiple sessions, with the number of sessions depending on the nature and severity of your condition(s) and or symptom(s). The practitioners at RE:FORM understand that your time is valuable, but so is your treatment. We will work with you to develop a realistic treatment plan, and preferably schedule several sessions in advance to maximize your ability to make it to all of your appointments.
Duration of each treatment:
Although it varies from person to person, most treatments last 15 minutes.
What should I wear? For most cases, no special clothing is necessary. Just come as you are.
Relief Expected:
Patients often feel the effects of a chiropractic adjustment immediately after the treatment. During your initial consultation or first few treatments, we will outline your expected timeline for a complete resolution of your symptoms.
Consequences:
Most conditions need treatment to get healthy and back to proper functioning. While you could choose not to have any treatment, this may lead to long-lasting symptoms and chronic problems. A chiropractor can diagnose and treat muscular and skeletal conditions to get you back in action and feeling your best as soon as possible.
Background/History/Interesting Statistics & Facts:
The word ‘chiropractic’ comes from the Greek words cheir (hand) and praktikos (practical) and literally means ‘done by hand.’ It is a branch of health sciences and is one of the largest primary-contact health care professions in Canada today, and for good reason. Chiropractic patients have the highest satisfaction rate among the various health care disciplines. Chiropractic is recognized by statute in all Canadian provinces and American states.
