The Cervical spine – (your neck!)

This article will help you gain a better understanding of what corrective Chiropractic care is and how it dramatically improves the health and quality of life of so many people! Whatever your health concerns are, or which part the body is giving you pain or discomfort, it is critical to understand why your neck (cervical spine) is the most important area of your spine with regards to maintaining your long term health.

The neck is made up of seven bones, and the main function of these bones (vertebrae) is to protect the spinal cord and the nerves that exit your spine. Your brain and body are in continual communication via the spinal cord and exiting nerves, and the information flow always goes from the brain, down the spinal cord and out to the body (Top Down – Inside Out). Any pressure or stress to the spinal cord will start to affect how your body functions. Did you know that it only takes the weight of a pea to disrupt nerve transmission? And similar to blocking a stream at the source, if we block the spinal cord up high, it can affect everything ‘downstream’. This means that any pressure on the spinal cord in your neck can truly cause an infinite number of health issues!

When most people book into RE:FORM Body Clinic, it is because they suffer from poor health, fatigue, back pain, neck pain, headaches or numbness (to name a few) and they are looking for answers. I care deeply about each patient’s symptoms, but what I worry most about is that ‘crick’ in your neck is a signal from your body that there is a bigger issue at hand – possible damage or degeneration on the spine that is causing your symptoms and pain.

Spinal degeneration is a scary term – is it a relentless degenerative process that breaks down discs and joints in the spine (spinal arthritis) and it can permanently block your body’s ability to communicate. Keeping the information flowing from brain to body is my #1 priority at RE:FORM, as it will significantly change your health now and for the rest of your life. I use over a decade of experience and cutting edge techniques to slow/stop and even correct spinal degeneration in my patients.

Your first visit to RE:FORM will include an assessment of your full spine, including your neck. I will be looking at structure (how your spine is aligned) and function (how your spine is moving). If your spine is structurally and functionally healthy, your spine will not degenerate over time and the spinal cord inside that spine will be protected and remain healthy… AND SO WILL YOU!
