Spring Cleaning… Time to Declutter and Embrace Simplicity!

Clutter is not just the physical stuff. It’s old ideas, toxic relationships and bad habits. Clutter is anything that does not support your better self.’

I came across this quote the other day and it really resonated with me. How can we achieve the success, happiness and health we deserve when clutter in our physical and emotional environments are energetically blocking the flow of abundance? If we want more money and nicer things, we can’t have old, broken or unused things taking up precious space. This also applies to our emotional environments. If we have negative people in our lives, we will not have the room for positive people to enter. If we hold onto resentment, anger and deny forgiveness, it is pretty challenging to feel grateful and truly appreciate the things that we have that matter. If we fill our bodies with bad food, medication and unhealthy choices, how will it be able to be healthy and thrive?

Here are a few ways to declutter, simplify and thrive!

Physical Environment: Look at your home, office and even your car! Get rid of the things you don’t use anymore…also get rid of anything that does not support your future self and the life you wish to lead. Ask yourself questions like: ‘Am I ever going to find that matching sock? Will I ever wear that old t-shirt from university? Will I ever read this book?’ If the question isn’t a resounding YES then get rid of it! If it is still a useful item, pass it along to someone who truly does need it.

Relationships: There are only so many hours in a day and it seems tragic to waste any precious time investing in relationships that are not positive, joyous and healthy. Look at the people in your lives and ask the question ‘do they build you up and bring energy or bring you down?’ If the answer is the latter, then release them to make room for the healthy relationships that you deserve.

Your Mind: Forgive, let go and move on… get rid of the fear and self doubt that lives in your head as it will only hold you back… stop procrastinating and prioritize what you need to do to reach your goals.

Your Body: Examine your health choices: what are you putting in your body? Is it necessary? Does your body need it to be healthy and thrive? The food you eat, the drugs you take, the decisions you make? Are they leading you down the road to a healthier life? Simplify your health routine… eat clean, drink water, sleep, exercise, get regular adjustments and reduce the amount of drugs and medicine that you take!

Have a happy, healthy and clutter-free week!

Yours in health,
Dr. Martin
