RE:FORM Newsletter #17 – Get to know your Doctor week!

I thought I would switch things up a little bit this week and share my story – my chiropractic journey with you!

My history with chiropractic has been pretty amazing because I walked into chiropractic college knowing very little about it and what I did know was grounded in a pain based (back/neck pain) model. This pain based approach to chiropractic made sense as we all grew up with a pain based healthcare model – you would never go see the Doctor until something was wrong. When you had pain, were sick or were stuck with a condition you could not figure out – you would go to the Doctor and they would make it better. You would leave with the prescription that helped get you out of crisis.

My first experience with chiropractic was as a professional athlete and this pain based approach is exactly how I approached my chiropractic care. I would go see my Chiropractor when I was ‘broken’ or in pain to get fixed so I could continue to compete.

So it makes sense that when I started my career in chiropractic, I followed the model I knew best and focused my continuing education on muscle work, rehab and strengthening. This way when someone came to me in crisis I could get people out of pain in a few visits or a few weeks at most. It was a rewarding journey, these short-term relationships helping people get out of crisis and acute pain.

However, I learned something very important along the way – even though I was helping people with their short term issues, I was not changing anyone’s overall health, or impacting/improving their life story.

As many of you already know, about two years ago decided to shift my focus away from a pain based model of healing so I could better monitor and positively change people’s’ health over time. This meant taking some awesome training and continuing education courses, overhauling clinic procedures and investing in the Insight technology (to show ongoing quantitative changes/improvements in health) and drastically changing how I manage each of my patients’ care plans.

I am working so hard to show you – my patients – that even if you have no pain, there is always amazing health to be gained through getting regular chiropractic adjustments.

As I look back over my journey, I feel so much gratitude as I am in an amazing place where I get to help so many people and have a really big impact on their lives! It is so amazing, inspiring and uplifting to watch people change and hear positive feedback from patients such as: Honestly, it is like someone has turned the lights back on! I can’t remember a time when I felt this good!

I also know that I could not be this active, healthy and energized if I did not take care of myself and include regular chiropractic adjustments in my life. Did you know that every Tuesday at 10:25 I get my weekly adjustment? I also get my scans monitoring my own spinal stress every quarter! I am living the true healthcare model of chiropractic and I have never felt better! My wife lives the same life – and so do my kids! So if my loved ones and I get that much care (because it is the best thing for all of us), I am not going to give you any less! I am going to give you my very best to keep you healthy for the rest of your life!

Thank you for being a part of my amazing journey and for trusting me with your health! It is an honor and a privilege!

Yours in health,
Dr. Zollinger
